Mitchell Summer Learning Labs
What is it?
Summer Learning Labs are a fun, high-quality academic and enrichment program designed to support student growth, prevent summer learning loss, and keep students on track for the upcoming school year. They have had great success in other parts of Indiana and the program is expanding to many more areas this year, including Lawrence County!
What does a day look like?
Each day from 9:00am - 12:00pm students will receive 90 minutes of literacy instruction and 75 minutes of math instruction. The academic sessions will be taught by licensed teachers with Club staff present in the room as teachers' aides. The afternoon portion of the day (12:00-4:00 PM) will consist of traditional Club programs. Youth will engage in fun activities such as Art, STEM, Games, Gym, and more.
What are the hours?
- 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM: Drop-off
- 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM: Breakfast
- 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Summer Learning Labs
- 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Lunch and Club Programs
- 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM: Pick-up
*Pick-up can occur any time after 12:00 PM, you do not have to wait until 4:00 PM. However, mornings are required to meet attendance requirements.
Who can attend?
Summer Learning Labs is available to students who will be in 1st - 7th grade in the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. This means they are completing K-6th in the current school year, 2024-2025.
How much does it cost?
Mitchell Summer Learning Labs is FREE! You must be a registered Club member as well, however, Mitchell Club Memberships are currently FREE as well!
Why is there an attendance policy?
Attendance is critical to the students' success throughout the program. A minimum of 80% attendance is required. The Summer Learning Labs is provided through MindTrust, which allows us to offer this program for free. However, in order to receive the funding to continue to offer this program in the future, meeting their required attendance policy is incredibly important
What about regular Summer Camp?
If you are not interested in Summer Learning Labs, all are welcome to attend the Club’s regular Summer Camp at the Limestone Unit for $60 per week, open 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM. You can also send your child to the Limestone Unit for the weeks the Mitchell Summer Learning Labs are not open.
