Full Job Description:

General Responsibilities

Manage the homework program by assisting 20–30 youth daily during After School. Execute the Indiana Kids program by coordinating education, volunteering, and career exploration opportunities. Support diverse after-school programming through positive, engaging interactions with members and families. Contribute to planning and implementing core program activities and events. Build rapport and effectively guide K–12 youth in a dynamic environment. Collaborate with staff, volunteers, interns, donors, and families to maintain a safe, supportive, and academically motivating Club experience.

Essential Tasks

Work with the Unit Director and fellow staff to plan, organize, and implement Club curriculum, programs, and activity schedules, including small group, large group, individual, and community-based activities. Sustain dedicated presence on site during all hours of operation. Consistency and reliability are keys to success in this direct- service role.

  • Support members as they complete their homework, ensuring they understand assignments, develop effective study habits, and build confidence in their academic abilities.
  • Maintain open communication with teachers and school staff to address challenges and coordinate strategies that ensure each member receives consistent support in their academic journey.
  • Implement the Indiana Kids program each school year, overseeing and coordinating its education, volunteer, and career exploration components.
  • Ensure all documentation and record keeping for the Indiana Kids program is accurate, up to date, and submitted by required deadlines to maintain compliance and support program success.
  • Support the Unit Director and Program Director in the planning and implementation of holistic programming for members in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
  • Facilitate program development that addresses the needs, interests, and characteristics of all members.
  • Manage program development that utilizes effective youth development

  • Participate and contribute to staff meetings, trainings, and planning sessions as scheduled.
  • Participate in maintaining a safe, positive environment conducive to youth development.
  • Participate in required reporting, documenting, and other administrative functions relative to youth development and program management.
  • Interface in a professional and positive manner with Club member’s families/parents, college student and community volunteers, fellow/float staff, and school officials.
  • Role model appropriate behavior with respect to attire, boundaries, communication, and social conduct/networking.
  • Respond in an appropriate and timely fashion to all written and electronic requests.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent required. CPR certification is preferred. Experience working with youth, including training, tutoring, or teaching. Knowledge of tutoring methods. Ability and willingness to consistently engage youth in all activities. Knowledge of basic Microsoft office, web- and non-web- based computer applications.

Must be physically and mentally able to perform essential functions, possess sufficient physical strength and energies required to effectively engage in activities with children, and support and sustain the physical environment.
